Maribel came to live at “Casa de Fe” the first week of May 2006. Her mother had given her to her parents to raise shortly after birth with little regard for the precious life of which she had been entrusted. In 2005 her grandmother passed away and her grandfather was unable to care for her and gave her over to an uncle. During this time she was abused by different family members until a cousin took Maribel out of the Rain Forest and brought her to us. Maribel had bruises on her back, arms and legs, she was severely malnourished and in need of a massive amount of love. She craves love and attention and when she gives you a hug you would think she just wants to crawl into your skin with you. She was very apprehensive the first night she was here so I went and bought her a new doll and now they are inseparable.
Mari has been with us now for 3 years, she has had her ups and downs but is doing great. She is in the 4th – 7th grade class. She is very artistic and loves to dance.
